Fire-Rated and Fire-Protective Glass Installation
Stairwells, corridors and exit paths often need glass that can contain fire and smoke for a specific duration. CBE Glass installs fire-protective and fire-resistive glazing and framing in schools, hospitals, offices and multifamily buildings, coordinated with your architect and fire marshal requirements.
Fire-rated glazing we install
- 20, 45, 60 and 90-minute fire-protective glass
- Fire-resistive glass with radiant heat protection
- Fire-rated door vision lites and sidelites
- Fire-rated framing systems and borrowed lites
- Clear ceramic and specialty fire-rated products
- Replacement of damaged fire-rated lites with labeled glass
The right product for each rating
Fire-protective glass limits flame and smoke, while fire-resistive glass also blocks radiant heat and is often required in exit corridors and stairwells. We review the life-safety drawings and supply labeled glass and frames that match the required rating.
Labeled and documented
Every fire-rated lite must carry a permanent label that inspectors can verify. We install only listed assemblies, keep labels visible and provide documentation for inspections and building records.

Questions about fire-rated glass
Need a specific answer? Call our estimating team at (202) 492-0676.
What is the difference between fire-protective and fire-resistive glass?
Fire-protective glass stops flames and smoke; fire-resistive glass also blocks radiant heat and is required in more locations.
Can I replace a broken fire-rated lite with regular glass?
No. It must be replaced with glass carrying the same or higher listed rating.
Do you supply fire-rated frames?
Yes. Rated glass must be installed in a frame listed for the same rating, which we supply and install.
