Smart Switchable Privacy Glass for Offices and Healthcare
Smart glass changes from clear to frosted at the flip of a switch. It gives conference rooms, executive offices, exam rooms and ICU doors instant privacy without blinds or curtains. CBE Glass supplies and installs switchable privacy glass in partitions, doors and windows for commercial clients across the DC region.
Smart glass options
- PDLC switchable glass for partitions and doors
- Retrofit switchable film applied to existing glass
- Wall switch, remote, timer or building automation control
- Laminated and tempered smart glass for safety
- Projection-ready surfaces when frosted
- Smart glass for healthcare infection-control areas
Privacy on demand
When the glass is clear, rooms stay open and filled with daylight. When a meeting turns confidential or a patient needs privacy, one switch turns the glass opaque. It is cleaner and more hygienic than blinds, a big advantage in hospitals and clinics.
Installation and wiring
Smart glass needs low-voltage power routed through the frame. We coordinate wiring paths with your electrician, install the glass with concealed connections and test every panel before handover. It pairs perfectly with our glass office partitions.

How does switchable glass work?
A liquid crystal layer scatters light when power is off, making the glass frosted; applying power aligns the crystals and the glass turns clear.
Can smart glass be added to existing partitions?
Yes. Self-adhesive switchable film can be applied to existing glass as a retrofit.
Does smart glass use a lot of electricity?
No. It consumes very little power, comparable to a small light fixture per panel.
