Insulated Glass Replacement

Foggy Window and Insulated Glass Unit (IGU) Replacement

Haze, streaks or droplets between the panes of your windows mean the seal of the insulated glass unit has failed. The glass no longer insulates properly and will only get worse. CBE Glass replaces failed insulated units in storefronts, office windows and curtain walls throughout Washington DC, Maryland and Northern Virginia, usually without replacing the frame.

What our service includes

  • Survey and mapping of every failed unit in the building
  • Custom insulated units made to exact size
  • Low-E, tinted, laminated or tempered glass upgrades
  • New gaskets, glazing tape and sealant
  • Replacement from inside or outside depending on the system
  • Phased work in occupied buildings

Replace the glass, keep the frame

When the aluminum framing is sound, only the sealed glass unit needs to change. We measure each opening, order new units and re-glaze them with fresh seals. This costs far less than full window replacement and restores clear views and insulation.

A chance to upgrade performance

New units can use better low-E coatings, tints that cut glare or laminated glass for security. Learn more in our article on why commercial windows fog up or explore our energy-efficient glass options.

Questions about insulated glass replacement

Need a specific answer? Call our estimating team at (202) 492-0676.

Can foggy glass be cleaned?

No. The moisture is inside the sealed unit; the only reliable fix is replacing the unit.

Do I need new windows?

Usually not. If the frame is in good condition, we replace only the glass unit.

How long does it take?

Once the custom units arrive, most openings are replaced in a single visit.
