Weis Markets – Waldorf
At the new Weis Markets in Waldorf, Maryland, we installed the curved clerestory curtain wall over the entry, the main storefront and the vestibule glass, giving the grocery store an eye-catching glass facade. Each mullion of the curved clerestory was laid out and anchored from lifts high above the entrance.
The challenge
Store openings are scheduled months ahead and rarely move. Glazing has to slot in between framing, mechanical and electrical trades and the tenant's fixture installers, and inside a mall it must respect the landlord's rules on barricades, deliveries and night work.
Our solution
Our installers erected the curtain wall and window wall framing, glazed it with insulated low-E units and sealed the perimeter into the building's air and water barrier. Our crew set out and anchored the aluminum framing, glazed it with tempered safety glass and hung the entry doors with commercial closers, pivots and locks, then sealed every joint against the weather. From start to finish we worked hand in hand with the general contractor and the owner, kept the work area clean and safe, and protected completed finishes until handover.
The result
The new storefront gives the brand strong visibility from the street or mall concourse, with uninterrupted sightlines that showcase the products and an entry built to withstand constant foot traffic. See more of our projects in Maryland.
